Talking fuel theft at Buckingham Palace!
TISS CEO Ryan Wholey, his wife Katherine and their children, Layla and Rowan, recently travelled to Buckingham Palace for a royal reception with HRH Prince Charles following the announcement of a second Queen’s Award for Enterprise, this time for Innovation. Here, Ryan talks about his day of pride.
This is becoming a regular occurrence!
Going down to London is always good for TISS, whether it’s going to a business meeting, signing another deal for one of our TankSafe® customers… or meeting up with royalty.
Our second trip down to the capital for a royal reception in four years is one of many highlights for the business this year and talking to Prince Charles about the effects of fuel theft is something which will stay with me forever.
As the UK basked in a summer heatwave, we set off early doors on the train with my wife and two children excited for the day ahead. The last time I came down was with one of our directors but this time it was very much a family affair.
I like to think that every team member of TISS is part of our family and this is something we try to instil within the ethics of the business. Work hard and play hard, we like to make it a fun environment for everyone involved in the company.
And our hard work pays off, allowing us to reap the rewards with a royal reception every so often.
Dressed in our finery, we made our way through the maze of gates and corridors within Buckingham Palace, our heads full of what we’d say to His Royal Highness – should we get to speak to him, of course.
We are immensely proud of the effect the Impregnable has had at protecting a businesses bottom line. Thousands of vehicles are now fitted with the device, with innovation key to its success.
With a glass of bubbly in our hands, we spoke to Prince Charles about the environmental impact our products have had. As a passionate supporter of the environment, he was interested in how our Impregnable product prevented diesel spills in fleets across the UK and the rest of the world.
Receiving the accolade of a Queen’s Award for Enterprise (Innovation) is a huge honour and being able to share our work within the industry with Prince Charles, himself a big advocate for the environment, is something I will never forget.
